  Stopped by on our drive from Kona to Hilo and this place is phenomenal!
  
  The portions are HUGE so split a plate or arrive hungry.
  
  They have a wide selection of breakfast and lunch entrees and also a few items you can mix and match for a combo.
  
  I got the teri-hamburger steak and kalbi ribs. The steak was so good, I wish I had just gotten a full order! The kalbi ribs were good, but my strip was kind of chewy.
  
  We also got the hawaiian style loco moco. It was just as savory as the teri-hamburger steak, but with the addition of an egg.
  
  One warning before you arrive is they only take cash, but they have an atm inside if you need it. They also aren't as expensive as other places on the island so that helps too if you're low on cash.

  Man the portions are huge!!!! 1 entree is enough for 2 adults. They do charge a $4 split plate fee, so you're better off ordering a fruit salad or something else small for the second person that's at least $4 - to avoid the split plate charge.
  
  We got the loco moco with all the meat options - it came with the hamburger beef, spam, and deep fried chicken cutlet. Very filling and rich, satisfying.

  Be forewarned: it's more food than one person should eat.  I know: I ate it all.
  
  The pancakes come two to an order, but one will feed a hungry man.  I had the house version of loco moco, which came with the beef patties cut up - and it was an enormous portion that was too delicious not to finish.  You should plan to take home leftovers and make a second meal or snack for yourself.
  
  The staff are very friendly and attentive.  They earn their tips.
  
  Word of warning: cash only at this establishment.

  This is the greatest, little local breakfast/lunch restaurant on the island!!!  Portions are huge.  Meals are exceptional!  Like homemade but so much better.  The waitstaff here are so nice and welcoming.  Come hungry!!  Cash only!  They have an ATM inside.

  On the way to Hilo we stopped to get food at Hawaiian Style Cafe. This place was busy. When you walk through the front door, you'll see a u-shaped low counter top seating. Then to your right is a clipboard to put your name then wait outside.
  
  I wanted to try a little bit of everything and got the Pulehu  Mix Plate which is The Pulehu short ribs with a selection of one of the plate lunch listed. I picked country fried chicken. The bf got Hawaiian style loco moco and we also ordered beef stew.
  
  The loco moco came with two scoops of white rice and two eggs. The lunch plate came with three servings of rice and tuna Mac salad. I love the tuna Mac! The portions here are HUGE and delish. The beef stew taste like grandma's home cooking. The fried chicken was moist. The marination to the pulehu shorts is different than korean bbq.
  
  If we could order all over again, I would substitute the white rice for fried rice for an extra $2.75.
